Department of Economics

Introduction::

Economics Department is limited to the undergraduate level (B.A.). The Department always aims to provide quality education to disadvantaged rural students. Economics is one of the most sought-after subjects, many students are attracting to this subject. As students are constantly connected to the subject, the Department has also successfully catered to the educational needs of students. The Department is involved in organizing student group discussions and seminars and also provides counseling facilities for competitive examinations. In this Department more than 300 students are enrolled in graduate every year.

History::

The Department was established in the year 1967, very first year of establishment of our college. Dr. Nirgude was the first person of the Department and took charge of Head of the Department, but he left the institute. Hence late Professor G. R. Dadegaokar took the charge of Head of Department. Professor B. V. Moghe had been the Assistant Professor of the Department. Dr. C. N. Kokate was appointed as a permanent faculty in 2005, but left the institution in 2005. At present Dr. A. D.Madavi is onlya working permanent faculty in the Department. Dr. A. D.Madavi is appointed as an Assistant Professor by the institute in the year 2009. He took the charge of Head of the Department in the year 2011 and working till date. Before the year 2009 there was no confirmed faculty at the Department, as such the Department were being run with the help of professor appointed on C.H.B.

Objectives::

• To develop the studentsunderstanding of basic concept of economics.
• To enable the students to understand various aspect of economy.
• To provide a general understanding of the functioning of the financial institution in economic system.
• To prepare the student for employment in various fields like industry, business, etc.s
