a. About Department (History) –

The Department of Public Administration was set up in the year 1967. It has the distinction of being one of the oldest departments in the discipline of public administration in the Marathawada region. The Department has a very impressive record to its credit. The Department, since its inception, has been actively engaged in quality teaching, research and training as well as consultancy in the applied fields of Public Administration.

               The Department has very dynamic AES, Public Administration, Department Alumni Association (AES PADAA) constituted in the year 2018. Among the alumni of this Department who are/were occupying high positions in various walks of life are Head of the department of Public Administration in various esteemed college, School Teachers; Central and State government/public enterprise officials. The alumni of the Department are also well placed in various City.

                  The activities of the Department can be grouped into two inter-related categories: Teaching and Consultancy.

Teaching: -

            The Department has regular full-time courses for B. A. optional Public Administration. Public Administration is a Competitive Examination oriented in the nature and multi-disciplinary in approach. The course has been scientifically planned by the Board of Study, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded to impart specialized, skill-based education through teaching, activities, workshops, seminars and conferences. It provides students with the knowledge and skills to analyse and manage processes of governance, policy making and administration at many levels of government.

               The syllabi of the Degree course cover wide range of core and optional papers that helps students to explore dimensions of policy making, mechanics of public policy design and implementation, strategies that public and non-profit organizations use to respond to major policy problems and dilemmas. Further, they get an opportunity to undertake individual and original research as part of Skill Enhancement Course as per Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded.

               The B. A. Course has been designed with a view to impart knowledge of recent advances in the discipline and to train the students in the theory and practice of research. Students are provided the opportunity to develop their leadership, organizational and decision-making skills through the SEC of the Department

Consultancy: -

            The faculty has expertise in various research areas related to Social Welfare Administration, Public Policy, Local Self Government in India with special reference to Maharashtra State and various aspects of administration. The faculty undertakes consultancy work through which it contributes towards policy making, strengthen government-academia interface and enrich their professional experience.

Achievements Of the Department : -

In the academic year 2018-19 Miss. Sangita Kamble stood first in the public administration at university level during graduation.

b. Aims and Objectives of the Department–

  • To strengthen the professional environment for Public Administration.
  • To promote scholarly research into varied issues related to the discipline.
  • To encourage application of intellectual standards in the profession.
  • To prepare the students to understand the advanced concepts of public Administration.
  • To organize ideas and apply them to the contemporary questions.
  • To develop analytical and critical thinking in the discipline.
  • To apply knowledge gained from the discipline to resolution of social issues.
  • To eradicate the fear of various competitive exams of administration from the psyche of the students.
  • To make them familiar with administrative structure, activities, roles or skills and its need in today’s phase.
  • To gain knowledge of different administrative Cultures in the world.
  • To acquire familiarity with the historical and theoretical development of British, American and other administrative literature.
  • To build the competetative exam proficiency among the rural Learners.
  • To Prepare the Learners to qualify competitive examinations.
  • To train the students to write creative literature for public administration.
  • To introduce the learners about administration on central, state and local level.

c. Course Outcomes

  • Through the close study of texts, students will develop knowledge, understanding and skills in order to communicate effectively in administration.
  • Students will be acquiring the skills of using various type of administration
  • To produce students with advanced skills in writing, reading and reasoning that will enable them to enter the work force directly or via professional or graduate schools.
  • Students will be able to acquire written and oral skills of administration
  • Students will understand and learn different forms of of administration woks in different fields.
  • Through responding to different administration texts, the students will acquaint themselves with the various nuances of administrative expressions in the administrative fields.
  • Students will be able to appreciate with an understanding of various administrative woks writings as developed through the ages.
  • Through responding to different texts of Indian administration the learners will acquaint themselves with the wide range of expressions in the Indian administrative system or it role.
  • The learners will identify, explicate and respond to key themes and elements in administration in various text books.
  • The students will be familiarized with the significant socio-cultural issues in India through close reading of administrative texts from diverse regions of the world.
  • Students will be able to understand the historical background of the administration and other related concepts.

d. Future Plans -

  • To organize the Certificate and Value-Added Courses.
  • To organize the Guest Lectures of Eminent Personalities.
  • To develop the departmental Laboratory.
  • To establish the MoUs with different institutions and organizations and undertake the various activities.
  • To develop some innovative material for students to overcome their basic errors and build confidence in communication and soft skills
